“Did you know that there are other ways of repairing a tooth than a conventional restoration?”
Inlays and onlays are a more durable and esthetic solution to treat damaged teeth. Certain cases warrant the use of inlays and onlays rather than a conventional restoration. When a cavity or filling occupies a large portion of the tooth, inlays and onlays will help strengthen the remaining tooth structure.
This technique is very conservative in terms of preserving the integrity of the tooth. It also helps to avoid fractures, root canals and even extractions.
How are inlays and onlays created?
Inlays and onlays are created in a laboratory based on the shape of your natural tooth. They often consist of the following materials: gold, porcelain or composite resin.
We practice this technique everyday at the office. If you have any questions on this subject please feel free to ask any member of our team.
